The establishment of the Malaysian Book Academy was launched by Datuk Seri Utama Dr Rais Yatim, Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage on 29 February 2008.
The academy serves as a provider of smart information to local and international users. With continuous research and development will make Malaysia a center for the excellent production of books and multimedia materials.
In addition, the academy will also organize various intensive training programs. From that, authoritative authors and publishers will be born to produce high quality publications.

To expose writers to effective writing methods and techniques and to produce ideal and outstanding artists in the national books industry.
Provide a trained and professional workforce in the country's book publishing industry.
To develop excellent human capital through a well-developed and internationally competitive book industry.
To increase the country's capacity in book publishing productivity in line with developed countries by 2020.
